really not a big fan of how tumblr will “test” changes by just. like. rolling them out to random users without warning? like dont they already have tumblr labs as an opt in way of testing new features?
stuff like the new icon changes where they directly say in their blog post about it that they’re “running a new experiment” like okay. thats not even a good way to get feedback because objectively way more people are going to be negative about a sudden layout change they didnt ask for or get warned about? this is. like. surely there is a better way to do this. guys. please.
Literally they could make this process 100000% better by adding a little sparkly popup button on the side of the dash that says “Test new features!” You click that, the new feature is implemented. A different button replaces the test button that says “Go back?” Clicking that brings up a little survey window where you can say whether you like the change or not and a short answer window as to why.
can’t tell at a glance who’s online right now and what they’re interested in
literally cannot tell without scrolling back up who put a post on my dash if it has a single addition attached to it. or like. 2 paragraphs in the op.
i cant click my own icon at the top of the dash to quickly view my own blog
can’t tell who someone used to be if they change their username
squashes the margins between the menu and posts, making the whole dash feel more cramped
ruins the quick visual cue of how long each post is and where it ends when you’re trying to scroll past ones youve seen before
people put a lot of creativity and individuality into icons, and now i never see them
makes people who primarily reblog instead of make their own posts all but completely disappear

ive never in my life seen a website or app that has profile pics forcibly HIDE them, so i guess you did it you made the dash unique again in the worst way

Click Help at the bottom right of the screen (might have to scroll a little bit to get it)
At the top of your screen, tap Contact Support, and it will open a sidebar.
On the Choose a category for support option, choose Feedback.
Fill out the rest of the form with your feedback and be as civil as possible while getting your points across.
If you’re on mobile:
Tap the profile button, then enter your settings.
Under General Settings, which should be the first option available to select, scroll down until you see Help.
Scroll the page to the bottom until you see Contact Support, and tap it.
And like on desktop, you select Feedback from the dropdown menu for Choose a category for support.
I have no idea how effective this is, but considering it’s one of the few ways to actually contact staff and support that gets you a response (you’ll receive an email reply eventually!), it’s worth a shot
if were all catpeople there would be trans catboy forums devoted to how to dye over calico markings so you can pass better and another group of trans catboys who insisted that the only way to deal with it is to normalize catboys having calico markings. the discourse would be insane
meanwhile all the far right commentary catboy youtube channels would have videos titled ‘HAS “MALE CALICO” ACCEPTANCE GONE TOO FAR?’ with the thumbnail of some random calico catboy who was shown in 0.001 second of a popular clothing brand’s pride month ad
there would be a whole other discourse over why we should stop talking about calico catboys when no one knows the struggle of transitioning from a girl orange cat (cute) to a male orange cat (stupid)
